Renovations to an existing outdated “simulation center” allow USM to expand its experiential learning curriculum and accommodate an increasing number of nursing applicants. The Center replicates health care environments that nursing students will experience during their clinical rotations and post-graduation. The facility features a fundamentals lab, patient “rooms,” nurse’s station, a medication room and two control rooms. Simulation “support” space includes debriefing rooms, offices for the lab manager and technology support person. High-fidelity bio-mimicking mannequins complete the simulation experience.
